Engineering Students Without Borders (ESWB) is a group of students at the University of Virginia with an interest in engineering as it relates to global development. The goal of the organization is to promote innovative and sustainable ways of using local resources to meet basic human needs. In addition to conducting capacity building projects that empower developing communities, ESWB carries out local service projects, discusses global development issues and non-traditional engineering career paths, and encourages academic growth at the University through courses in global development engineering.
Their weekly speakers and discussions motivate students to develop new ideas about the role of the engineer and to take action to make positive, long-lasting differences in communities throughout the world.
