The focus of the International Residential College’s Art Sustainability and Design committee is to plan and implement projects and events for the IRC community. We meet weekly to plan monthly events for the IRC that incorporate the arts, sustainability, or design. Past activities have included a Paint a Pot and Pot a Plant event in which participants planted their own herb and potted it in a sustainable, paintable pot. We also potted a lime tree which is kept in the common area for everyone to share once it bears fruit, and different residents collaborated to paint the design on the pot. Most recently we painted ceramic bowls which residents could reuse instead of using paper bowls. We also coordinate other projects involving the arts including a mixtape exchange, collaborative art projects, and making cards for our housekeepers. Additionally, we submit a sustainability tip to the a weekly publication in the IRC called the the Stall News, which is a spin off of the Stall Street Journal.
